Please note:
The modules listed reflect the current curriculum and may be updated as part of ongoing review processes. However, the overall learning outcomes and subject focus will remain consistent.
This GBS course offers opportunities to assess your knowledge and understanding through both informal and formal methods. You will first complete formative assessments, which are designed to support your learning and prepare you for summative assessments, where your final marks are determined.
Each module typically includes at least one formative assessment, providing valuable feedback from your course team. These assessments are developmental in nature and do not contribute to your final grade. They are intended to build your confidence, deepen your understanding of the subject, and help you prepare for formal assessments. Students who do not engage with formative work may find it more challenging to progress through the Foundation Year and subsequent levels of study.
Summative assessments usually take place at the end of each module and contribute to your final marks. These may include written exams and a variety of coursework, such as reports, portfolios, essays, and presentations.
Assessment methods at GBS are reviewed annually to ensure they remain relevant and effective. Updates may be made in response to student feedback, developments within the subject area, or recommendations from an External Examiner. External Examiners are independent academic experts from other higher education institutions, appointed by the University of Suffolk to ensure that academic standards are maintained.
