The Construction Management (Level 6 Top-up) programme is designed to meet the demands of the modern construction industry, preparing you for a career in managing projects from initial concept and design through to completion and occupancy. By strengthening your management capabilities, the course equips you to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Throughout the programme, you will gain in-depth knowledge of construction management while developing essential skills to navigate the complexities of construction projects. You will also explore the short- and long-term environmental impacts of construction activities, learning about sustainable practices and innovative approaches to environmentally responsible project management.
Sustainability and social innovation are central to the programme. Through creative problem-solving, you will build both intellectual and practical competencies aligned with the expectations of professional bodies such as the CIOB.
By the end of the course, you will have a solid understanding of construction technology, professional practice, ethics, and health and safety, along with the legal, business, and managerial aspects of the industry. Assessment on this course is designed to give all students the opportunity to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge, skills, and competencies essential to construction management. You will also be expected to complete independent study, including research, assignments, and collaborative work outside of scheduled sessions. Self-directed learning is key to success, and lecturers will provide ongoing guidance on effective study approaches throughout the programme.
