During your Foundation Year, you will develop essential academic and employability skills required for higher education, while gaining an introduction to key concepts in computing.
In the following year of study, you will learn how to interpret and evaluate data relevant to computing and IT. You will apply fundamental theories and concepts to make informed decisions and assess different problem-solving approaches within the core themes of Technology, Software, and Data.
As you progress to Level 5, your knowledge of computer science principles will deepen. You will focus on applying a range of concepts and techniques within the broader contexts of Technology, Software, and Data to address real-world problems in business and industry. This stage of your studies will culminate in an industry-related project, allowing you to demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have developed. You will also strengthen your communication skills by presenting your findings to a diverse audience—an essential capability for all technology professionals.
In your final year, you will further explore the three core themes of Technology, Software, and Data. Your studies will emphasise the application of computer science principles across sectors such as business, industry, and commerce to solve complex problems. Your learning will be showcased through a comprehensive final project aligned with one of the core themes, challenging you to apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical expertise to real-world scenarios
Assessment on this course is designed to give all students the opportunity to demonstrate a full range of knowledge, skills, and competencies essential to computing management. A variety of assessment methods are used, including essays, reports, real-world simulations, presentations, projects, and group discussions.
You will also be expected to complete independent study outside of class time, including research, homework tasks, and group work. Self-directed learning is an important part of your success on this course, and your lecturers will provide guidance on effective study approaches throughout your studies.
